I have to write a blog for one of my classes….ill be writing my blog on my Canon XL2 Camera.

Okay so I like to film. A lot. I have been through at least four cameras in my filming career. and I’ve used many more than that. My favorite of all my cameras is my Canon XL2. Definitely the best camera I have ever owned.

Now what makes this Camera so great? well its has GREAT video picture. the picture is clear and crisp and looks really good. It has different frame rates, 60 frames per second, 24 frames per second and 30frames per second. These help the quality of the video be the best it can be. I personally use the 24 frame rate because this is the standard for most video cameras like this.

Another great thing about this camera is all its different features. its has a great lens that, if you have money, you can buy other lenses for different types of shots. such as a night-vision lens. Its interchangeable.

There are also lighting settings on the camera which allows you to lighten or darken the image in the camera if your unable to change it outside the camera. This helps for like video on a stage where the spot light is really bright on the performer, you can turn the dial and the light is dimmed allowing you to see the performer without it whiting out their face.

There are also sound and volume settings on the camera. This can allow you to make the volume of the shot your recording to be louder or quieter. This can be very useful for filming things in loud environments.

ALong with this, there are to inputs for other items such as a boom mic, or a wireless mic, or even a portable hard drive. This is just awesome especially if your trying to filming something of value. Just pop on the hard drive and its saved.

Otherwise, which is what you usually do, you record right onto a mini DV tape. This isnt digital, but its just as good of quality because the camera recording quality is really good. Makes your images just really clear.
